Course Description: This 23 minute class period allows students the opportunity for increased time with academic practice; access to peer leaders to assist with freshman advisement/tutoring/mentoring; time for sustained silent reading; and the opportunity to make-up assignments per teacher request. Additional Benefits: Intervention/tutoring for specific subjects, Gateway and GHSGT assistance is provided during advisement rather than during an academic class; decreased numbers at lunch; the opportunity for students to receive extra tutoring through clubs and peers; and provides an opportunity for students to build positive relationships with teachers/advisors in a small group environment. Student Expectations: 1. Students are required to read, study, or work on homework. 2. Sleeping, eating, socializing, or listening to electronic devices will NOT be allowed. 3. All regular classroom guidelines are expected to be followed. 4. Discipline referrals will be given for not following guidelines. Consequences begin with a warning. 2nd offense is administrative detention. Class Guidelines: Failure to follow guidelines will result in disciplinary action
