NEW Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year (SAMMY) 2012 Award Program

The SAMMY 2012 Award Program recognizes outstanding scholar athletes in grade 12 from high schools throughout the contiguous United States. An athlete from your high school could be one of the 25 winners who will each receive the following:
  • A $7,500 college scholarship from the Milk Processor Education Program
  • An invitation for winners, parents and/or guardians to attend a SAMMY 2012 awards weekend scheduled for June 2012
  • An opportunity to be pictured in a special congratulatory Milk Mustache ad in a June 2012 edition of USA TODAY and other national publications
From now until 11:59:59 PM (EST) on March 19, 2012, teachers, coaches, principals, guidance counselors, athletic directors, parents and relatives are encouraged to nominate a student athlete for the SAMMY 2012 Award. Additionally, all high school seniors are allowed and encouraged to nominate themselves for the SAMMY 2012 Award.

Judging of the nominees will be based on five criteria: academic performance (35%), athletic excellence (35%), leadership (15%), community service (10%) and milk experience essay (5%). Preliminary judging will be conducted by a qualified group of educators and coaches who will select 75 finalists. A panel of celebrity athletes from the Milk Mustache campaign will then choose the 25 winners.

NEW Gwinnett County Retired Educators Association
The Gwinnett County Retired Educators Association will award a one-time $1500 scholarship to a senior from a Gwinnett County Public School who is planning to pursue a career in education.

NEW Huggable Heroes Program

Since 2004, more than 100 exceptional young people have been recognized as Build-A-Bear Workshop Huggable Heroes®. Our annual Huggable Heroes program supports thousands of causes and champions un-bear-lievable efforts of young people who are making a difference. Each of the 2012 Huggable Heroes will receive a $7,500 educational scholarship from Build-A-Bear Workshop and $2,500 from the Build-A-Bear Workshop Foundation to be donated to the 501(c)(3) charity or Canadian cause of their choice. In addition, each member of the new class of Huggable Heroes will receive a trip for themselves and one parent, or legal guardian, to St. Louis, home of Build-A-Bear Workshop World Bearquarters. There they will be honored for their work, meet the other 2012 Huggable Heroes and participate in a photo shoot for the 2013 Build-A-Bear Workshop Huggable Heroes calendar.

NEW WyzAnt College Scholarship

 Please submit your application to http://www.wyzant.com/Scholarships/ by April 1, 2012. Each individual who applies ("Applicant") will be required to write an essay in English of no more than 300 words answering the question: "What is the most important lesson you have learned in your life?"


WyzAnt tutors will review essays in the final round and determine the winners. Scholarship awards of $5,000, $3,000, and $2,000 are available for first through third place!

NEW Extend the Dream Scholarship

The Extend the Dream Scholarship is provided through funds from the Southern Association for College Admission Counseling Human Relations Committee. SACAC wants to recognize and reward deserving students. This scholarship is awarded based on financial need, academic achievement and community service. Awards are in the amount of $1,000 and are not renewable.

Scholarship Criteria:
Applicant must be a current high school senior graduating from a public, private, parochial high school or home school located in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee or the Caribbean

Applicant must be accepted by and plan to attend a regionally accredited, non-proprietary, technical, community or four-year college in the fall following his/her graduation

Applicant must have at least a 2.75 grade point average for grades 9-12.

Applicant must have financial need

Applicant must demonstrate a commitment to community service, social justice issues, and/or leadership qualities

Applicant must submit ACT and/or SAT scores

NEW Gwinnett County Board of Relators Scholarship Foundation
 Each year the Gwinnett County Board of Realtors® Scholarship Foundation through the Northeast Atlanta Metro Association of REALTORS® will award a scholarship to a worthy graduate of an accredited high school program within the state of Georgia.  The scholarship will be paid through the institution of the student’s choice, $1,000 each year for a maximum of four years.

The criteria for the award of the scholarship shall be as follows:

1.  Applicants must have a grade point average of 90 or more or an A average as shown by their high school transcript.
2.  Applicants must have a SAT combined score of 1800 or more (out of 2400)  ACT composite score of 22 or more (out of 36).
3.demonstrated leadership in school activities and/or community involvement.
4.  Applicants must have applied for or be accepted for enrollment at an accredited college, university or vocational-technical institution and plan on working toward a bachelors or associate degree.
5.   Financial need of the applicant may be considered in the scholarship award.
6.   All applicants must be a 1st (first) or 2nd (second) generation (this includes children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews & Step children) selected students who are related to any REALTOR® member of the Northeast Atlanta Metro Association of Realtors® and are graduating from an accredited high school program within the state of Georgia.
7.  The applicant’s high school principal and school counselor shall sign each application to verify the student’s scholarship, character and extra curricular activities.
8.   Recipients of the scholarship must register for and complete at least the minimum number of hours required to be classified as a full time student at the institution of their choice and maintain an accumulated C average.  Awards must be renewed annually by the filing of a renewal application as required by the Scholarship Committee.
9.    The Gwinnett County Board of Realtors® Scholarship Foundation, through The Northeast Atlanta Metro Association of REALTORS® makes no distinction in its scholarship awards based on the grounds of age, sex, race, religion, color, national origin or physical handicap.
10.   The Gwinnett County Board of Realtors® Scholarship Foundation, through The Northeast Atlanta Metro Association of REALTORS® reserves the right to make the final selection of each year’s recipient and each annual renewal of the award and any decision of The Gwinnett County Board of Realtors® Scholarship Foundation, through Northeast Atlanta Metro Association of REALTORS® on the scholarship shall be final and uncontestable.

The APPEAL Foundation Scholarship Fund was created to provide financial support to aspiring scholars within the metropolitan Atlanta community.

NEW AES Engineers Scholarship

The consulting firm of AES Engineers is committed to continuing its support of higher education by providing scholarships to deserving students.    Our belief is that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped. NEW The Delta Alpha Chapter at The University of Georgia “La Mujer Universal” Scholarship
  
The Delta Alpha Chapter de Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated at The University of Georgia will recognize only one applicant as its 2011-2012 “La Mujer Universal” Scholarship recipient and will award a scholarship in the amount of $500. The recipient must enroll in a two or four-year accredited college or university or a vocational/technical school for the 2012-2013 academic year. Scholarship applications must be completed with all the required documents and must be postmarked on or before the deadline of MARCH 16th, 2011. Incomplete applications will not be accepted or considered. The recipient will also be recognized at the annual “Mr. and Miss Latin UGA Pageant” which will take place Sunday, April 15th, 2012 at The University of Georgia’s Tate Grand Hall Ballroom.

NEW Georgia Fire Sprinkler Association
The Georgia Fire Sprinkler Association awards scholarships annually in the amount of $1500, $1000, and $750 to high school seniors through an essay writing contest.

NEW Metro Atlanta Relocation Council
The one-time award of $1,500 will be presented to an Atlanta area high school senior this year (Residence eligibility is defined as a senior attending a private or public school in any city or county district within Cobb, Fulton, DeKalb, or Gwinnett Counties as well as any county immediately bordering these counties).

Eligibility: Currently a senior in good standing in an Atlanta area high school, Has relocated more than 50 miles and changed schools due to their family's relocation between grades 9 and 12, Currently have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a scale of 4.0 (or equivalent if different scale).

 NEW Kiwanis Club of Suwanee Scholarship
The Kiwanis Club of Suwanee will award $500.00 to 2 Collins Hill Seniors.
Eligibility: U.S Citizen, 3.0 Cumulative GPA, strong educational motivation and group leadership skills through extracurricular activities, financial need, work experience and letter of recommendations are additional criteria in the selection process.

NEW Gwinnett County Public Schools Foundation Scholarships  

The Alton C. Crews Educator Scholarships are one-time awards of $1000 to two students who exhibit good character and leadership skills, have maintained a 3.0 GPA and have a desire to enter the teaching profession.

The J. Alvin Wilbanks Educator Scholarships are one-time awards of $1000 to two students who exhibit good character and leadership skills, have maintained a 3.0 GPA and have a desire to enter the teaching profession.

The Louise Radloff Scholarships are one-time awards of $1000 to two students who exhibit good character and have overcome a significant challenge to meet the requirements of graduation. No GPA requirement. The award can be applied to any form of post-secondary study that leads to employment.  

The John A. Raghu Scholarship is a one-time award of $500 to a band member, with preference to bassist, from Archer High School, who participates in community service and has a weighted GPA of 3.0 or better.

The Robbie Susan Moore Scholarships are one-time awards of $500 to two minority students who will attend a four year college, who have financial need, participate in significant community service and have a weighted GPA of 3.0 or better.  Preference will be given to students who are first in the family to attend college.  

The Dr. Barbara Reed Science Scholarship is a one-time award of $500 to a graduating senior with an interest in a post-secondary science field.

The Dr. Linda Williams Educational Scholarship is a one-time award in the amount of $500 for a graduating senior from Grayson, Maxwell, and Phoenix High School.

Walter Harrison Scholarship

Eligibility:       The Harrison scholarship is named in honor of a leader in the state and national electric cooperative movements. The Harrison Trust awards several scholarships statewide to undergraduate students enrolled in or accepted by a Georgia college, university or technical school. Judges select winners for the Harrison Scholarship each year based on financial need and academic ability.

The A.T. Sharpton-Gainesville College Restricted Scholarship Award

Eligibility:       This scholarship award is available exclusively for students planning to attend or currently enrolled at Gainesville College. Financial need is a primary consideration so you must complete a free application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in addition to the scholarship application.  Judges will also consider academic average, autobiographical sketch, standardized test scores and/or faculty recommendations.

The A.T. Sharpton Unrestricted Scholarship Award

Eligibility:       This scholarship award is funded through the same trust as the Gainesville College Scholarship but is payable to students enrolled in any two- or four-year college or university in the nation. Judges will consider financial need; however, academic average, autobiographical sketch, standardized test scores and/or faculty recommendations are of equal importance. This scholarship is available for both undergraduate and graduate students

NEW U.S. Air Force ROTC Scholarship

The Air Force ROTC High School Scholarship ProgramHigh School Scholarship ProgramProvides 3- and 4-year scholarships in three different types to high school seniors. provides three- and four-year scholarships in three different types to high school seniors. The application process is the same for each type.

Type 1:            Pays full college tuition, most fees and $900 per year for books. Approximately 5% of our four-year scholarship winners will be offered a Type-1 scholarship (mostly in technical fields technical fields. Fields mostly related to careers in the Air Force that have a scientific basis such as engineering, chemistry and meteorology, and that the Air Force considers a need for its officers.

Type 2:            Pays college tuition and most fees up to $18,000 and $900 per year for books. Approximately 20% of our four-year scholarship winners will be offered a Type-2 scholarship (mostly in technical fields). If a student attends an institution where the tuition exceeds $18,000 per year, then he/she pays the difference. All three-year scholarships are type 2.

Type 7:           Pays college tuition up to the equivalent of the in-state rate at a public school and $900 per year for books. If a student receives a Type-7 offer but wishes to attend a college/university where they do not qualify under the guidelines above, the student can convert the four-Year Type-7 scholarship to a three-Year Type-2 scholarship. You cannot activate a Type-7 scholarship at a non-qualifying school and pay the difference.

Eligibility:       To be eligible for scholarship consideration, you must achieve an SAT composite of 1100 (Math and Critical Reading portions only) or ACT composite of 24 and attain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

NEW American Chemical Society Scholars Award

Eligibility:       ACS awards renewable scholarships to underrepresented minority students who want to enter the fields of chemistry or chemistry-related fields. African American, Hispanic, or American Indian high school seniors or college freshman, sophomores, or juniors pursuing a college degree in the chemical sciences or chemical technology are eligible to apply. Demonstrate high academic achievement in chemistry or science (Grade Point Average 3.0, "B" or better), and financial need according to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid form (FAFSA) and the Student Aid Report (SAR) form

NEW The Goizueta Foundation Undergraduate Scholars

The University of Georgia is pleased to announce three new scholarship programs. The addition of the new scholarships will result in four different undergraduate scholarship programs which will support students with financial need (as determined by analysis of the FASFA or Free Application for Student Financial Aid application,) and who are fluent in Spanish. Preference will be given to students from Georgia. In addition to the scholarship aid, after enrollment, students will be provided with opportunities to interact with other scholarship winners and attend specific events to support their transition to UGA and enhance their learning experience.

The Goizueta Foundation Undergraduate Scholars will receive $3000 per year and are generally awarded to 5-10 new incoming first- year students.

The Opportunity Scholarships are awards of $4000 per year and are generally awarded to 15 new incoming first-year students with strong academic accomplishments.

The Leadership Scholarships are awards of $7500 per year and are generally awarded to 7 new incoming first-year students. The student’s demonstrated and potential in leadership is taken into consideration in this scholarship.

All first-year scholarships are renewable for a total of 8 terms of full-time enrollment or until the student completes their baccalaureate degree. Students must maintain a 2.8 GPA for renewal.

Students interested in the scholarship must apply for admission to UGA by December 15,2011 and complete the FAFSA as soon after January 1st as possible.

NEW Gwinnett Area II PTA Scholarship

The purpose of this scholarship is to assist students who have successfully completed high school who are interested in furthering their education in a college or university to prepare themselves for careers of their choice with the goal of having these individuals maintain their support and commitment to the advancement of education.  This is a one-time, non-renewable scholarship.

Qualifications and Eligibility

A student is eligible to apply for the Gwinnett Area II PTA Scholarship if he/she:
  • Is a graduating senior and PTSA member of an Area II high school with a PTA/PTSA.  The PTA must be in good standing (i.e. paid dues, approved bylaws on file).
  • Is interested in attending an accredited four (4) year or two year (2) college or university
  • Has exhibited good character
  • Has a satisfactory scholastic record
  • Applications will be scored based upon information in essay (80 points), and grade point average (20 points)

NEW Shell Minority Scholarship

The Shell Minority Scholarship Program focuses on developing talent in the engineering and geosciences field by providing assistance to under-represented graduating high school seniors who have expressed an interest in the energy industry and demonstrated an aptitude in mathematics and science. To qualify, the student must be an under-represented race/ethnicity in the technical/science academic areas. To be eligible, nominees must be Black (Not of Hispanic Origin), Hispanic/Latino, American Indian, or Alaskan Native.

Eligibility:        Through its Education and Leadership Development Program, the Jackie

Robinson Foundation provides scholarships to minority high school students showing leadership potential and demonstrating financial need to attend an accredited 4-year college or university of their choice.

·         Plan to attend an accredited and approved four–year institution within the United States;

NEW Army ROTC Scholarship

Eligibility:       High School senior, GPA of at least 2.50, Minimum 920 SAT score, or 19 on SAT (excluding the writing test scores), Agree to accept a commission and serve in the Army on Active Duty or Reserve, 8 year army commitment, Meet physical standards

Award:            Army ROTC offers two-, three- and four-year scholarships, which pay full and fees, include a separate allowance for books and a monthly stipend of up to $5,000 a year. Army ROTC scholarships are not retroactive.

The Darin C. Banks Foundation presents its Annual Collegiate Scholarship Competition. NEW The Tenth Annual National Co-op Scholarship Program

WACE, on behalf of the seven WACE Partner Institutions, is pleased to announce and sponsor its 10th annual National Co-op Scholarship Program. As the largest independently sponsored merit co-op scholarship porgram in the United States, WACE will award 155 merit co-op scholarships of $6,000 each, for a total renewable value of up to $4,000,000. NEW Elks National Foundation: Most Valuable Student Competition

The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four-year scholarships to high school seniors in the 2012 competition.
  • Any high school senior who is a citizen of the United States is eligible to apply.
  • Applicants need not be related to a member of the Elks.
  • College students are not eligible to apply.
  • Applicants must be citizens of the United States on the date their applications are signed; permanent legal resident status does not qualify.
  • Male and female students compete separately.

Applicants will be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need. All scholarships are in the form of certificates of award conditional upon the full-time enrollment of the winner in an accredited U.S. college or university. Applications must advance through local, district and state competitions to reach national judging. The Chicago office of the Elks National Foundation will notify the 500 national finalists by email in late February 2012. To be eligible for an award, national finalists will be required to submit a secondary application online. The national finalists will also be required to mail their Student Aid Report to the ENF. These applications are due March 23, 2012. The Chicago office of the Elks National Foundation will announce the 500 national winners, and notify them in writing, by mid-April 2012. (Many local Lodges, districts and state Elks associations award their own scholarships through this program. These scholarships are not to be confused with the 500 Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarships.) Ranging from $1,000 per year to $15,000 per year, Most Valuable Student scholarships are for students pursuing a four-year degree, on a full-time basis (minimum of 12 semester hours), in a U.S. college or university.

NEW KFC Colonel's Scholars

KFC Colonel's Scholars is looking for high school seniors with entrepreneurial drive, strong perseverance, demonstrated financial need and who want to pursue a college education at an accredited public institution in the state they reside.

The KFC Colonel's Scholars Program is about you, your dreams and aspirations, and the perseverance to succeed. This program is offered to high school seniors planning to attend a public in-state college or university. Students who meet the criteria may apply online to become a KFC Colonel's Scholar. Students selected for this scholarship are eligible to receive up to $20,000 to complete a bachelor's degree program.

To be eligible to compete for the KFC Colonel's Scholars Scholarship, a student must:
  • Graduate from high school this academic year (between 12/1/11 and 8/31/12)
  • Earn a minimum cumulative high school GPA of 2.75
  • Plan to pursue a bachelor's degree at a public, in-state college or university (start date no later than 9/30/12)

NEW Student of Integrity Scholarship

The entry is based on four categories:
1. Leadership Skills (Extra Curricular Activities)
2. Community Service
3. Academic Achievement
4. Essay

Each category will be judged in the following way:
1. Leadership Skills – 10%
2. Community Service – 10%
3. Academic Achievement – 10%
4. Essay – 70%

Students must submit the following:
1. Leadership Skills – please submit in your choice of written form the leadership skills you’ve shown during your high school years.  This can be school activities and out of school activities.  Some students simply make a list while others go into more detail for each experience.
2. Community Service – please submit in your choice of written form the organizations you’ve been involved with during your high school years.  Please explain what it’s meant to you to be a volunteer and the impact it has had on you.
3. Academic Achievement – please submit a copy of your transcript.  If you receive the transcript and it is sealed, please open and make copies.
4. Essay – please submit in type written form an essay on “If I were a CEO...the 5 Principals/Values on which I would build my company and why."  This will account for 70% of your score.  The essay should not exceed 500 words. 

Students are free to add any other information they feel will be beneficial to their entry.  All entries must be received at BBB office by January 31, 2012.  Students must submit three copies of their entry as the entries will be judged by three different people.  BBB will not make copies or send incomplete entries.  Students who submit incomplete entries will not be notified due to the amount of entries received.

NEW UNIVISION 34’S “Liga de Campeones” Scholarship

UNIVISION 34’S “Liga de Campeones” Scholarship is designed to motivate Latino youth in the Atlanta area to pursue higher education. The program recognizes Hispanic high school seniors who excel in academic success, athletic achievement or community involvement.

ELIGIBILITY: The scholarship is open to students who meet all of the following criteria:

1) Reside in the metro Atlanta area and surrounding counties that receive the Univision 34 signal
2) Are enrolled as a 12th grade student with sufficient credits to graduate in the Spring term of 2012
3) Are bilingual (Spanish/English)
4) Have a Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher based on a 4.0 scale
5) Are of Hispanic descent (defined as persons descended from Central America (excluding Belize), Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico, South America (excluding Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana) or other Spanish speaking countries)
6) Are not employees or agents, and are not immediate family of and do not reside in the same household of, employees or agents of (a) Univision, (b) Plaza Fiesta and (c) BrandsMart USA, (d) any participating sponsors or their respective parents or affiliates; and (b) persons who are engaged in the development, production, distribution of materials, or drawing of scholarship recipients for this scholarship.

The Anne Ford Scholarship is a $10,000 scholarship ($2,500/year over four years) granted to a graduating high school senior with a documented learning disability who will be enrolled in a full-time bachelor’s degree program in the fall of 2012

Allegra Ford Scholarship is a $2,500 one-time scholarship awarded to a graduating high school senior with a documented learning disability who will be enrolled in a two-year community college, a vocational or technical training program, or a specialized program for students with LD in the fall of 2012.

NEW Georgia Farm Bureau Scholarship and the Gwinnett County Farm Bureau Scholarship

Scholarships are now open to ALL high school students that will be graduating in 2012 and beginning college that year. Gwinnett County Farm Bureau will award a total of $1500 in scholarship(s) to those who meet the criteria. NEW Susan G. Komen College Scholarship Program

Applications for the $10,000 schlarships will be accepted fromSeptember 15th, 2011 – November 15th, 2011. These awards aid college students facing significant financial burdens due to the loss of a parent (or guardian) to breast cancer or their own breast cancer diagnosis at age 25 or younger.

The scholarship awards $10,000 per year (for up to four years) to a student to attend a state university in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree. Komen scholarship recipients are selected based on scholastic achievement, community service, financial need and demonstrated leadership potential. Scholarship recipients serve as Komen Collegiate Ambassadors and must volunteer their time to breast cancer awareness activities for at least 20 hours per semester.

We provide Gates Millennium Scholars with personal and professional development through our leadership programs along with academic support throughout their college career.
